The Arts Council is currently seeking to fill two youth summer employment positions:

  • Cultural Projects Officer
  • Cultural Development Officer

The Conseil des Arts Prescott Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC)  is a non-profit organization whose main objective is to promote regional arts, culture and heritage, in addition to serving its members.


 

Position: Cultural Projects Officer

Location: Prescott Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC), 31 St-Paul Street, Alfred ON K0B 1A0

Date: May to August 2020 - 30 hours/week.

Hourly rate: $15/hour

Employment Summary :

Under the direction of the Coordinator, the summer employee will help coordinate various cultural and artistic projects, and projects related to communications, events and mandate development for the Prescott Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC).

Job Description :

  • Assist in the organization of events and activities :
    • The organization's Annual General Meeting ;
    • Setting up a series of gathering events;
    • The Culture Days activity;
  • Manage the main e-mail and answer the phone;
  • Maintain the Prescott and Russell's electronic calendar of cultural events;
  • Establish and maintain effective and ongoing communications with individuals and groups involved directly or indirectly in the projects;
  • Assist in the management of the CAPRAC Gallery and other art exhibitions in the community;
  • Participate in performance events at summer festivals;
  • Contribute to the performance of social media accounts;
  • Update member artist pages and profiles on the website;
  • Write articles and promotional texts;
  • Perform archiving work for surveys and newspaper articles;
  • Assist in planning, organizing and participating in the activities necessary with the team to achieve the objectives of projects related to the promotion of culture, arts, and heritage;
  • Inform the coordinator regularly on the progress of her projects;
  • Actively participate in weekly meetings with the team;
  • Assume other tasks necessary for the realization of the projects.

  • Demonstrate great flexibility;
  • Able to work under pressure;
  • Manage several projects at the same time;
  • Enjoy writing;
  • Enjoy working in a team;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Knowledge of social media.

Job Requirements :

  • Be bilingual (French-English) both orally and in writing;
  • Possess strong French language skills and strong written and oral communication skills;
  • Have a valid driver's license.

Eligibility for the Canada Summer Jobs Program* :

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment ;
  • Be a Canadian citizen;
  • Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents or designated as refugees under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment*; and,
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the beginning of the employment and be legally authorized to work in Canada in accordance with the legislation in force in the province or territory concerned.

Asset :

  • General knowledge of art, culture and heritage.

  • Facilitate discussions in a networking group for artists on Facebook;
  • Maintain the Prescott and Russell's electronic calendar of cultural events;
  • Assist in the promotion of members, artists and cultural and heritage centres in the Prescott and Russell region;
  • Establish and maintain effective and ongoing communications with individuals and groups involved directly or indirectly in the projects;
  • Participate in performance events at summer festivals;
  • Assist in planning, organizing and participating in the activities necessary with the team to achieve project objectives related to the promotion of culture, arts and heritage;
  • Inform the coordinator regularly on the progress of her projects;
  • Participate actively in weekly meetings with the team;
