Biography

Agata Michalska was born in Szczecin, Poland. Having immigrated to Canada in 1989, she received a Bachelor’s Degree in Design Art from Concordia University in Montreal and a Graduate Certificate in Digital Technologies in Design Art Practice from the same institution. Ms Michalska possesses a vast professional background in Marketing and Design, both on the national and international levels. Business owner, partner with many professional and artistic associations, Ms Michalska invests herself in initiatives that benefit the artistic community and that bridge the gap between the arts and the population at large.

Artist Statement

My artworks typically begin with a photograph, vectorization of the image and a dynamic interpretation of the resulting vector work. Of a hard edge aesthetic, my artworks are abstract and simplified. I want to achieve simplification, always putting in question size and conceptual relationships between the original and the finished work. Once production begins, technical precision and attention to detail are of utmost importance. I am intensely detail oriented throughout production, until the work is complete.
