Biography

Julie C. Cheff is a visual artist who works in both oils and acrylic paints. She completed her Fine Arts degree at Algonquin College (1984) and continued on in fine arts at the OSA (the Ottawa School of Art 1989).

After participating in numerous student shows, she was invited to show her work at the Saw gallery (Byward Market) as well as having her first solo exhibition at the Centre St-Famille (Clarence-Rockland) in 1995!

After having worked in graphic designer for many years for different publishing companies and subcontracting through her own business “Phantom Designs”, her quest for a better understanding of herself and of the world around her led her to studying Psychology at Carleton University where her introductory work was based on the therapeutic benefits of “Art as Therapy”.

Her studies in cognitive and social psychology would ultimately influence how she uses the language of symbolism to communicate through her paintings!
