Better Together: CAPRAC awarded funding through Ontario Trillium Foundation to enhance resilience of arts culture and heritage sectors in UCPR

Vankleek Hill, ON – On Sunday, local MPP Stéphane Sarrazin met with the team at the Conseil des arts Prescott Russell Arts Council (CAPRAC) to hear more about the $44,700 Resilient Community grant they received from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) to build the organization’s resilience and sustainability.

“As the Member of Provincial Parliament for Glengarry-Prescott-Russell, I recognize the significant impact of non-profit organizations throughout the riding and across Ontario. I am pleased that the funding provided by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport through OTF will help the CAPRAC partners. The Ontario government is committed to projecting these essential organizations, programs, and community spaces, ensuring they remain an integral part of the community fabric of our province,” said MPP Stéphane Sarrazin.

The funds will be used to strengthen its resilience and visibility by developing new fundraising initiatives and knowledge sharing tools while providing essential executive leadership training to ensure organizational longevity. The project will offer much needed support to the organization itself, as well as multiple regional cultural partners in the sectors of arts, culture and heritage.

“We are trilled to announce this grant to offer support to our cultural partners and their executive leadership.” Says Margo Malboeuf, Executive Director for CAPRAC. “Investing in the vitality of our cultural institutions not only enriches our community but also ensures that these organizations have the resources and leadership necessary to continue inspiring, educating, and connecting us all.”

CAPRAC’s mission is to inform, unite, support and promote the arts, culture and heritage in the United Counties of Prescott and Russell region of Eastern Ontario. Celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2024, CAPRAC is launching new initiatives throughout the year, to engage its community and advocate for its cultural partners. Visit caprac.ca to learn more.

“Non-profit organizations across Ontario deliver programming that makes a difference,” said Neil Lumsden, Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Sport. “That’s why funding that my ministry is providing through the OTF is so important. Our government wants to ensure that these programs and spaces remain the heart of communities across our province.”

The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Ontario government with a mission to build healthy and vibrant communities across the province. Last year, OTF invested more than $110M into 1,044 community projects and multi-sector partnerships. Projects aim to enhance economic well-being, foster more active lifestyles, support child and youth development, provide spaces for people to come together and connect, and create a more sustainable environment.
