Yanik Gosselin

Bio
Yanik (he / him) has been working at the Prescott-Russell Arts Council since 2018, as a seasonal worker for three summers. In 2020, he joined the team as Cultural Promotion Officer to help promote art and culture in the community. His contribution to CAPRAC's virtual content during a year marked by a global pandemic kept the organization active in its community. His previous work experience at the Canada Council for the Arts, ACFO Ottawa and the regional organization Tourism Prescott-Russell has given him experience in event planning, customer service, community development and arts administration.
As a singer and performer, Yanik has been invited to participate in the National Arts Center's Young Artists Program (2018, 2019), the Heifetz International Music Institute's inaugural Baroque Singing Workshop (2019), and the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance's Singing Workshops (2020, 2021). In 2019, he performed a recital with Lindsay Bryden (flute) and Natalie Hoffman (harp) to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Arts Center. He has a particular interest in recital music and 1970s glam rock. Yanik holds a BMus in Vocal Performance from the University of Ottawa and recently completed a Master of Music in Voice and Opera at McGill University under the direction of Dominique Labelle. He is also a member of the Association for Opera in Canada and currently a member of the RBC Artist Fellows 2021-2022 Cohort.
Originally from the Lake Temiskaming area of northeastern Ontario, he followed his family down the Ottawa River to Rockland in 2009 and feels at home wherever he can contribute to the growth of an artistic community. Yanik graciously acknowledges his privilege to currently reside on the traditional and unceded territory of the Mi'kmaq people in Mi'kma'ki (Halifax).

Annual report
THe united counties of Prescott and Russell
The United Counties of Prescott and Russell is the soul of eight municipalities, each one with unique characteristics. Serving East Hawkesbury, Hawkesbury, Champlain, Alfred and Plantagenet, The Nation, Casselman, Russell, and Clarence-Rockland, the United Counties of Prescott and Russell acts as an upper-tier municipality with the responsibility of supporting regional interests and providing residents with an unparalleled quality of life.
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT
As an organization, CAPRAC acknowledges our privilege to live, work and create on the unceded, unsurrendered territory of the following five Nations:
Omàmìwininìwag (Algonquin)
Kanienʼkehá꞉ka (Mohawk)
Anishinabewaki
Ho-de-no-sau-nee-ga (Haudenosaunee)
Wendake-Nionwentsio
The presence of these First Nations reaches back to a time before the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, and who continue to live here. We recognize these Nations as the customary keepers and cultivators of this land, and so, honor their long history of welcoming many nations onto their beautiful territory.
We recognize the historical oppression of the original Peoples, and the inexcusable efforts which were made to extinguish their arts, their culture and their heritage.
As individuals, we will strive to become good neighbors by fostering respectful ways of occupying this place together, and to uplift the values and voices of our host Nations, by peacefully allowing space for them to tell their stories, on their terms. We believe the arts are a great tool in the process of reconciliation, which each of us should consider and acknowledge, through our creative process, as well as in our daily lives.
